1 Arrested in Hialeah Carjacking, Another Suspect on the Run

Police are looking for a second suspect who fled in the Opa-Locka area.

Hialeah Police arrested a teen suspected in an early morning carjacking Wednesday and now they are looking for a second suspect.

Nathaniel Xavier Bain, 16, was charged with armed robbery, car jacking, and fleeing and eluding police. Bain is currently on probation for grand theft, according to police.

Officials said Bain and another suspect carjacked two men who were sitting in a 2008 white Lexus parked at East 5th Avenue and 61st Street just before 4 a.m. The suspects ordered the two men out of their car at gunpoint and stole their phones and wallets before one of the suspects drove off in the Lexus. The second suspect, Bain, fled in a gray Ford Taurus.

Using tracking signals from one of the victims' phones, police located the Lexus and Taurus driving in the area of Northwest 14th Avenue and 95th Street in Miami.

Police said Bain intentionally rammed into an officer before abandoning the Taurus and fleeing on foot. The officer was uninjured and authorities were able to apprehend Bain.

"This is a tremendous catch," said Hialeah Police Spokesman Carl Zogby. "This is an armed carjacking. It is just a shame that it is just a 16-year-old. He started early but he is a dangerous man.

Authorities identified the Taurus as a car that had been reported stolen out of West Palm Beach yesterday.

Police followed the stolen Lexus to 13300 Port Said Road in Opa-locka, where it was abandoned. Police were not able to capture the second suspect.

Anyone with information on the carjacking is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
