1 Man, 3 Horses Dead After Northwest Miami-Dade Stable Fire: MDFR

Officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

A man and three horses are dead after a stable caught fire in northwest Miami-Dade, officials said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the fire at Rubio Ranch on NW 154th Street and 122nd Avenue at about 1 a.m., according to Chief Fire Officer Cesar Fable.

The property owner told fire officials someone that resides in the stable may have been inside during the blaze because the person was not answering the phone, Fable said. When the flames were put out, firefighters found a body, but the victim's name has not yet been released, he said.

Animals that were roaming the area were corralled, but three horses died, Fable said.

Because there were no fire hydrants nearby, firefighters had to shuttle water from a nearby canal to extinguish the flames, according to Fable.

"It's challenging, because you're dealing with time constraints and you need to put the fire out as quickly as possible," he said.

Police said the man that died lived in the stables
