1 Person Dead in Wellington Plane Crash: Authorities

One person died after a small plane crashed and was partially submerged in a Wellington lake Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews found one occupant in the cockpit who was pronounced dead on the scene, agency spokesman Capt. Albert Borroto said in an email.

Crews responded at 12:55 p.m. after getting reports about the single-engine plane crash on the 2900 block of Greenbrier Boulevard in Wellington.

The name of the pilot has not been released pending notification of family, Borroto said.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been contacted, he said.
