1 Shot in Hollywood's Seminole Reservation: Police

Seminole Police responded to a shooting Monday morning in a private neighborhood in Hollywood.

According to police, one person was shot in the 6300 block of Atlanta Street, located in the Seminole Tribe jurisdiction in Hollywood around 8 a.m.

Police said the victim, 29-year-old Ricky Odell, was an intruder who jumped a concrete wall. A male who lives on the reservation, but is not a tribal member, shot the intruder multiple times in the stomach and leg, police said.

Odell was taken into surgery at Memorial Regional Hospital. Police said he was shot six times. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

The shooter, 26-year-old Israel John, was interviewed by Seminole Police and then transported to the BSO Jail. Police said he faces aggravated battery charges.

Detectives said Odell was not armed.

Police had received a call from a female on the reservation of a suspicious person in the neighborhood sometime in the hour preceding the shooting.
