10 Miami-Dade County Vehicles Burglarized Outside West Dade Regional Library

Police are investigating after a burglar broke into ten Miami-Dade County vehicles that were parked outside the West Dade Regional Library.

The incident happened late Monday night outside the library on Coral Way near Southwest 97th Avenue. Officials said the suspect smashed through windows and caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Employees said the suspect struck around 10:30 p.m. and just missed the cleaning lady, who took the trash out moments after the suspect left.

"It’s terrible,” said Jim Rustin, the facilities and maintenance manager for Miami-Dade’s libraries. Rustin said each vehicle has around $1,000 or more of equipment including power tools and battery-operated tools.

"They’re nice new vans," Rustin said. "We travel all over the county."

Police haven't released a description of who they're looking for.
