The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority on Friday was giving away 1,000 free SunPass minis and an activation voucher with $15 of credits.
The giveaway was part of Miami-Dade Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz's initiative called "14 Days of Neighborly Love."
"Once you get that act, pass it on. It's not just about the 14 days," said Diaz.
The free items were being given at the 97th Ave toll plaza on State Road 836 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Diaz's initiative was inspired by Valentine's Day and runs until Feb. 27. It involves businesses and organizations donating their time and services.
"There are the good things that sometimes we forget about," Diaz said.
The expressway authority is a public entity, which operates and maintains five expressways including the 836.
