11-Year-Old Dies After Collapsing at Northwestern High School

An 11-year-old boy died Wednesday after he collapsed on the track field at Miami Northwestern High School.

Miami Fire Rescue said the boy was warming up for his after-school track club meeting when he suddenly collapsed.

When first responders arrived at the scene, the boy had no pulse and was not breathing.

The 11-year-old was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died. He was identified by family members as Kaleb Harris.

Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted on the passing of the young boy.

NBC 6 has confirmed the child was a student at Florida International Academy Charter School. He was participating in after-school activities at Northwestern High School when he collapsed.
