12-Year-Old Arrested After Bringing Gun to Broward School

Police have arrested a 12-year-old after he allegedly brought a BB gun inside a Broward County school Friday morning.

Officials say the child brought the weapon into Dillard High School, located near Northwest 8th Street and 25th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

According to Police Chief Rick Maglione, the student was being disruptive in class and was sent to the office when he pulled out the gun from his backpack.

A Code Red was called and the school, which also holds classes for middle school students, was placed on lockdown for a period of time before it was lifted shortly after 9 a.m.

Maglione say the student will face several charges.
