15 Cubans Repatriated By U.S. Coast Guard After Recent Captures Off Florida Coast

15 Cuban nationals were sent back to their native country after being repatriated by the United States Coast Guard Tuesday.

The individuals were picked up during three separate interdictions in the last week in the southern part of the Florida Straits.

Those taken into custody were given food, water and basic medical attention while being prepared for their return.

More than 4,400 Cuban citizens have attempted to make the voyage to American since Oct. 1, 2015, according to the Coast Guard. Those captured have been found in the Florida Straits, the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
