16 Arrested on Drug Charges in Miami-Dade Police's ‘Operation Dragon Slayer'

More than a dozen suspects are facing charges after a massive drug bust in Miami-Dade targeting dealers of heroin and Fentanyl.

The year-long investigation, dubbed "Operation Dragon Slayer," has resulted in 16 arrests so far, Miami-Dade Police officials said Thursday.

The police's narcotics bureau worked with the DEA and U.S. Postal inspectors in a two-day operation that began Wednesday and involved the execution of three search warrants.

The operation is a response to the growing concern over the distribution and use of the drugs in South Florida. Experts say Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and heroin.

The suspects, 13 men and three women who range in age from 23 to 76, face numerous drug charges.
