17 Migrants Dropped Off by Boat in Broward: Police

Seventeen migrants were taken into custody after they were dropped off by a boat on Hillsboro Beach early Sunday morning, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Hillsboro Beach Police Lieutenant James Pugliese told the Sentinel that the group consisted of eight men, seven women and two young boys.

According to U.S. Border Patrol, no vessel was found and no arrests were made. Officials say it appears the smuggler dropped the migrants off about a mile north of the Hillsboro lighthouse around 5 a.m. and left the country in the vessel.

Border Patrol officials said all of the migrants are now being processed for removal at the Dania Beach Border Patrol station.
