2 Arrested in Fatal Shooting At North Miami Beach Bus Stop: Police

Two suspects have been arrested in the Monday shooting at a North Miami Beach bus stop that left a teen dead and a woman injured, Miami-Dade Police said.

Yveslander Oriscar, 19, and a 17-year-old suspect were arrested Tuesday morning, police said. Both face charges of murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

“These kids should be tried as adults and get the whole weight of the law,” said Bryan Mercado, Sr. “That was cold-blooded. No, he never did anything. He never showed he had any enemies or whatever.”

The shooting happened in broad daylight outside a mall in the 1200 block of Northeast 163rd Street. According to police, the victim, 17-year-old Bryan Mercado, was waiting at a bus stop with a friend when the suspects walked up behind him.

Oriscar pointed at Mercado and told the younger teen to shoot him, police said. The younger teen pulled out a gun and shot Mercado multiple times, police said. Mercado fell to the ground and the teen stood over him and shot him again, police said.

Mercado was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman sitting on a bus bench was shot in the leg.

The suspects fled the scene and tried to get on Jitney bus, but were taken into custody a short time later, police said.

“No one deserves to die like this, you know?” Bryan, Sr. said. “You know, just God they need to repent. It was senseless and my heart goes out to their family too because their family doesn’t even know what kind of children they are raising. It’s not right.”

Police haven't given a motive for the shooting. It’s unknown if either Oriscar or the teen accused of the shooting have attorneys.
