2 Arrested in Ferguson Protest at Miami Courthouse

Two people at a small, but passionate protest outside the Miami-Dade Metro Justice building Tuesday evening were arrested by police for failing to obey a lawful order.

The protest was sparked as demonstrations are being held nationwide in the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury decision.

Police said Phillip Agnew, 29, of Hialeah and Shaw Jeremy Roberts, 25, of Pompano Beach were both arrested during the downtown protest.

The protest started around 6 p.m. and authorities in Miami were taking no chances that any violence could erupt. Officials closed the Metro Justice Building around 4 p.m. ahead of the announced protest schedule.

The closing of the courthouse for the protest impacted normal business, including the murder trial of Janepsy Carballo. The jury in her case was dismissed at 4 p.m. with the rest of the courthouse.
