2 Bodies Found Inside Home After Early-Morning Fort Lauderdale House Fire

The bodies of a husband and wife have been recovered from a Fort Lauderdale home found engulfed in flames Thursday in what police believe was a murder-suicide and arson.

Crews responded to the house near Southwest 22nd Street and 3rd Avenue - just north of State Road 84 - shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the home as firefighters fought to extinguish the blaze.

Officials confirmed that two bodies - one male and one female - were found inside the home.

Fort Lauderdale Police said it appears the wife was killed by her husband, who then committed suicide. It's believed the man set the home on fire before taking his own life, police said.

Police haven't released the names of the couple.

Neighbors said they heard gun shots from the home and called 911, but officials would not confirm that yet.

Crews found a dog alive at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
