Two Children Dead After Family SUV Overturns on Turnpike: FHP

Authorities say two children are dead after their overloaded sport utility vehicle overturned on Florida's Turnpike in Martin County.

Another adult in the car also died. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a blown tire caused the rollover Saturday afternoon.

Troopers say all 12 people in the 2006 Ford Expedition were relatives from Apopka. According to an FHP report, half the occupants were not wearing seat belts. Wysocky says the SUV had a capacity of nine occupants.

Uriel Miranda, 38, died at the scene and 2-year-old Yaretsi Miranda died Saturday evening at a hospital. Eight-year-old Yordi Miranda died Sunday at a hospital.

Authorities say the driver and a 7-year-old boy were treated at a hospital and released. Seven other relatives ranging from ages 3 to 34 remained hospitalized.
