2 Hit-and-Run Crashes Reported Within 24 Hours: Police

Two hit-and-run crashes reported within 24 hours are being investigated by authorities in South Florida.

The first happened on Friday evening at Southwest 243rd and 127th Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police said a pedestrian was struck and killed. The person's gender or name have not been released.

Investigators were working on a vehicle description.

The second happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday at 1 West Flagler Street.

Miami Police said a male was riding his scooter when the driver of a Mazda ran a red light. The victim was knocked off the scooter and onto the trunk of the Mazda.

Police said the vehicle never slowed down or attempted to stop. The victim remained on the trunk of the Mazda until it turned to go onto the on-ramp of I-95, where the victim fell off the trunk and into the street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police are looking for a silver or grey Mazda 4-door sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle should have front end, windshield, trunk and under carriage damage.
