Multiple Shootings Under Investigation in Northwest Miami-Dade

Miami Police are investigating three separate shootings that occurred Saturday evening.

"We're seeing these situations happening way too often," said Officer Kenia Fallat with Miami Police.

The first happened just before 8 p.m. in the 1900 block of Northwest 2nd Court. Police said a man was shot multiple times and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Minutes later on Northwest 9th Avenue and 69th Street, police said gunshots rang out in an empty field. 15-year-old Alder Hill was shot multiple times. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but died shortly after arriving.

Police said the gunmen, possibly two black males, fled the scene.

The field where Hill was shot is just steps away from Miami Northwestern Senior High School. Hill is one of several teens who died due to gun violence within the last two months.

"We need a little more information as to what actually took place," Fallat said.

Later around 10:15 p.m., while detectives worked the crime scene at 9th Avenue and 69th Street, they heard neighboring gunshots. Officers responded and found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 700 block of Northwest 65th Street.

The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but died from his injuries. He has been identified as 21-year-old Jaquan Leonard.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the three separate incidents are unknown at this time. Detectives cannot confirm whether there is a link between the cases.

"We need the community to come together and call us with information," Fallat expressed.

In addition, Miami-Dade Police are also investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in the 1100 block of Northwest 105th Street. A man was shot, but his condition is unknown.

Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
