2 Suspects Nabbed for Carjacking, Robbery at Coral Square Mall: Police

Arshantayvia Chinn and Shantwanice Chisem were arrested at the La Quinta Inn in Tamarac, Coral Springs Police said

Coral Springs Police said they arrested two women who committed a recent carjacking and a robbery at the Coral Square Mall.

Arshantayvia Chinn, 20, of Tamarac was charged with carjacking with a firearm, grand theft, petit theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, according to online Broward Sheriff’s Office records.

Shantwanice Chisem, 19, of Tamarac was charged with two counts of carjacking with a firearm as well as one count each of armed robbery, grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and a probation violation, according to the BSO.

In an incident on Sept. 6, a 57-year-old woman was reading the paper in her car at the mall at 9469 Atlantic Blvd. when a woman holding a gun came up and ordered her out of the car. The suspect then fled with the car, police said in a statement Thursday.

On Oct. 7, a 77-year-old woman was walking to her car at the mall when a black woman approached her, pointed a gun at her and told her to give up her purse or be shot, according to police.

The suspect struck the victim twice in the head with the gun, ripped the purse from her arm, and fled in a beige vehicle driven by another suspect, police said.

Police said they found and arrested the suspects at the La Quinta Inn at 3800 Commercial Blvd. in Tamarac.

It was not immediately known whether Chinn or Chisem have attorneys. They were both being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility on no bond Thursday, according to online BSO records.
