2 Charged in Shooting of Boy, 15, in NW Miami-Dade

Two men are facing charges in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy in northwest Miami-Dade.

Christopher Kaye Vazquez, 18, and Taurean Isaac Pitts, 21, were both arrested early Wednesday in the Tuesday night shooting, Miami-Dade Police said.

Vazquez was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and tampering with physical evidence, while Pitts was also charged with tampering with physical evidence and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Vazquez was ordered held on $40,000 bond after a court appearance Wednesday. Pitts, who has a warrant case, was ordered held on $11,000 bond. It was unknown if they have an attorney.

According to police, the 15-year-old boy had gotten into an argument with Vazquez and Pitts when Vazquez pulled out a gun and shot him. The teen was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where he was listed in stable condition.

Vazquez and Pitts stayed at the scene where they were arrested. The firearm was recovered along with 65 grams of marijuana and $12,000 in cash, police said.
