2 Fort Lauderdale Officers Fired, Another Resigns

Two Fort Lauderdale police officers have been fired and another turned in his resignation following an internal affairs investigation involving perjury, misconduct and falsifying reports.

The Sun Sentinel reported Friday that officers Billy Koepke and Sgt. Michael Florenco will challenge their dismissals. Officer Brian Dodge resigned.

The officers were acquitted during an October trial. They were originally arrested in 2011, accused in a scheme to steal money from drug addicts and dealers. The charges stemmed from a 2010 case, but the charged were dropped in August. But they were tried on misconduct and perjury charges.

Florenco was fired for not properly supervising.
