20th Florida Panther Found Dead This Year

A 20th Florida panther has been killed on state roadways this year, breaking previous annual records.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission workers recovered the remains of a 6-month-old male Thursday in Collier County.

The News-Press reports it brought the annual total of recorded panther deaths past the previous high of 19, set in 2012.

Biologists say there could be as many as 180 Florida panthers living in the state. It is Florida's official state animal.
