22-Year-Old Fort Lauderdale Man Accused of Trying to Have Sex with 9-Year-Old Girl

A 22-year-old Fort Lauderdale man is accused of trying to engage in sexual activities with a nine-year-old girl.

Authorities say Joshua Asseraf responded to an advertisement on a public messaging board with the username "Logan S". The ad was placed by an undercover FBI law enforcement agent.

The advertisement used language that is commonly only associated with individuals seeking children for sexual purposes.

The undercover agent and Asseraf began exchanging text messages. They discussed the agent having a daughter that was nine years of age, and about how the agent was sexually active with his daughter. Asseraf asked the FBI agent if he "shared" his daughter with anyone else.

FBI authorities say Asseraf expressed interest in meeting up to engage in sexual activities with the daughter and detailed the sexual acts he would like to perform.

Asseraf indicated to the FBI agent he had been involved sexually with a 12-year-old juvenile in the past saying, "I've had a 12y Virgin before was amazing."

The FBI agent planned a meeting at a hotel where the father, daughter and Asseraf would meet. Asseraf was taken into custody when he arrived.

Authorities say Asseraf admitted to using the same screen name " Logan S" and texting the father about having sex with his nine-year-old daughter. Asseraf also admitted to bringing two stuffed animals for the nine-year-old.

According to Sun Sentinel, Asseraf was recently fired from his job as a lifeguard for the City of Fort Lauderdale's Aquatic Center.
