25 ‘Yellow Tape' Gang Members Arrested in Miami-Dade Raid: Police

Several South Florida police agencies teamed up to take down a notorious street gang early Wednesday.

In all, 25 suspects were arrested on charges from drugs and firearms to murder in a roundup of the "Yellow Tape" gang, officials said.

"When do you see a yellow tape up? Aside from today, right, typically at a crime scene. Typically when someone's been shot, when somebody's been harmed, when there's been a robbery," Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said. "So if you take a Yellow Tape name you might as well say 'I'm a murderer gang.' That's how dangerous they are."

The massive early morning bust took place at the Cutler Manor apartment complex on Southwest 222nd Street. The six-month investigation included local, state and federal law enforcement.

Miami-Dade Police said the gang started out as a neighborhood clique involved in adolescent criminal activity but soon became violent and used intimidation to take over drug territory.
