$25,000 Reward in 2012 Killing of Man in Lauderdale Lakes

The Broward Sheriff's Office is hoping a $25,000 reward will help them find whoever killed a man in Lauderdale Lakes nearly five years ago.

The large reward is being offered for clues in the Sept. 1, 2012 killing of 29-year-old Marquel McCormes, who was gunned down after a night at a club, authorities said.

McCormes and his friends had been at FME Club at the 4200 block of State Road 7 and was walking home with a group of friends but was lagging behind. When he finally entered the house, he collapsed on the floor with blood in his mouth, BSO officials said.

He was rushed to the hospital where paramedics realized he'd been shot. He died a short time later.

McCormes' girlfriend said her boyfriend, known as Quel to his friends, was the son of a retired BSO deputy.

Authorities are still trying to figure out who shot McCormes and why. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
