2nd Suspect Arrested in 2013 Pompano Beach Homicide

Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives have arrested a second man wanted for his alleged involvement in the 2013 murder of a 22-year-old man in Pompano Beach.

Soon after the shooting death of Rodney Toussaint, investigators arrested James Toussaint, one of the alleged shooters.

At the time, they also issued an arrest warrant for Jubert Joseph but had not been able to locate him.

On Wednesday, members of the BSO Special Weapons and Tactics team went to serve a search warrant at a home in Pompano Beach. As detectives approached the front door, a man inside the home jumped out through a rear window in an attempt to avoid capture.

The man was quickly taken into custody and transported to the BSO Main Jail. The suspect told detectives his name was Evylen Alcime, but during the booking process his fingerprints revealed his real name was Jubert Joseph, 29.

The murder happened on Dec. 8, 2013. BSO said the victim, Rodney Toussaint, had gotten into a verbal altercation and physical fight with James Toussaint.

Rodney left after the fight but returned to the 300 block of Northwest 12th Court about an hour later. BSO said James and Joseph approached the victim and fired their weapons.

Deputies responded to the area and found Rodney lying dead on the pavement.

Joseph is being held on no bond. It's unknown whether he has an attorney.
