Three Hospitalized After Tens of Thousands of Bees Swarm in New Port Richey

Three men had to be hospitalized with dozens of stings after thousands of bees attacked them in the Tampa Bay area.

Pasco County Fire Rescue officials say 20,000 to 30,000 bees swarmed four people Sunday morning in New Port Richey.

Three men were stung up to 50 times each. They were taken to a hospital. A woman was stung about a dozen times but authorities say her injuries were not as serious. None of the victims' names were released.

Authorities say firefighters sprayed the bees with a hose to make them disperse.

It was not immediately clear what may have provoked the bees to leave their hive in a tree.
