Man Killed, 2 Young Siblings Injured in Liberty City Shooting

An 18-year-old man was killed and his two young siblings were hospitalized after a shooting at a home in Liberty City late Wednesday night.

The shooting was detected by Shot Spotter around 11:20 p.m. at a home in the 6900 block of Northwest 6th Court, Miami Police officials said. Police said the shooter walked up to the home, opened the door and opened fire.

The victims were a 12-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, City of Miami Fire Rescue officials said. Police said they lived in the home.

Two of the victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center while the third was taken to the hospital's pediatric unit. The 18-year-old later died at the hospital while the other two victims were in stable condition, police said.

The father of the victims, Tremmelle Raymond Sr., said they are all siblings and identified the teen killed as Tremmelle Raymond Jr.

He identified the other children as Jenny and Terrell Raymond. Raymond Sr. said his son had just turned 18 on May 1 and was preparing to finish classes at an alternative school.

Family members said the older teen was talking on the phone with his girlfriend just outside the front door when the shooting happened. The other kids were inside on a couch. Another 16-year-old was at the home but wasn't injured, family members said.

Neighbors reported hearing at least four or five shots ring out. Witnesses said they saw several people running from the scene and fleeing in a gray sedan, possibly a Ford.

"The guys ran across the street. Next thing I know, the car took off around the corner and ran the stop sign," one witness said.

Police don't have a motive for the shooting but said it remains under investigation.
