A 3-year-old boy died Sunday after he was hit by a car in Pompano Beach earlier in the day, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Deshae Gordon was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and then to Broward Health Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries just after noon, according to the BSO.

Dispatchers were called at 10:40 a.m. after the child was struck by a 1995 GMC van in front of The Forum Hotel at 600 SW 3rd Street, the BSO said.

The van’s driver, 50-year-old Abaner Penetus of Deerfield Beach, was heading north when the child went into the path of the vehicle and was struck, the BSO said. Traffic homicide detectives are investigating, it added.
