3 Central Florida Teens Charged in Brutal Crowbar Attack of Teen: Police

Three teens have been charged with attempted murder in a brutal attack on another teen in Central Florida on Thursday, WESH, the Orlando NBC affiliate, reports.

Three nearby schools were placed on precautionary lockdowns Thursday morning as authorities investigated reports a shooting, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they arrested Jessie Umberger, Rebecca Gotay, both 18 years old, and Dylan Thomas, 17, Friday morning. They were each charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder and are being held on no bond.

According to investigators, Umberger, Gotay and Thomas planned to attack the victim, 17-year-old Daniel Vukovich, either inside or near his home on Glenwood Avenue because they believed that he stole marijuana and smoking paraphernalia from them.

Deputies said Vukovich was attacked with a crowbar before he left for school Thursday.

Authorities previously reported that the victim was shot, but that information turned out to be false.

Vukovich remained in critical condition Friday.

It is not known if the accused teens have hired an attorney.
