Three people are dead and two others injured after an early-morning Florida Keys crash that shut down part of the Overseas Highway for five hours.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the wreck happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday when a southbound pickup hit a guardrail on the Shark Key Bridge. The vehicle rolled over, coming to rest in a northbound lane, where another truck struck it.
Two people were pronounced dead on the scene. A third later died at Lower Keys Medical Center. Two others were airlifted to Miami-area hospitals in critical condition.
The Key West Citizen reports the crash shut down the bridge in both directions until about 6 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities are still probing the cause. Names of the dead have not been released.
