3 Suspects Arrested in Armed Carjacking of Elderly Miami Gardens Man

The suspects were 21-year-old Orlando Norris and two 14-year-old boys.

Miami Gardens Police have arrested three suspects in the armed carjacking of an elderly man.

Officials said an elderly male victim named Vivian Nunes, 78, was approached by three young men while he was doing his lawn Saturday afternoon. The suspects told him they were from out of town and needed a ride to the bus stop, so he agreed to take them, police said.

While they were on the way to the bus stop, one of the suspects took out a handgun and pointed it at Nunes, telling him to stop and exit the car, according to authorities. One of the suspects got out of the car, pulled Nunes out of the driver's seat and forced him onto the group, police said.

They took off and officers were able to find the car with the three suspects still inside, but the suspects got out of the car and fled. Officials were eventually able to catch up with them and they were arrested.

One suspect, 21-year-old Orlando Norris, was charged with armed carjacking, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting an officer without violence. He is being held without bond. Two 14-year-old suspects were also detained.
