3 Victims of Woman Robber Still Recovering From Shooting

Miami Police are still on the hunt for a woman who robbed and shot three young people near a park over the weekend, as one of the victims spoke out Monday.

The youngest victim of the Saturday night shooting is just 12 years old and was still recovering Monday inside the Children's hospital at Jackson Memorial.

Heydi Martinez, 20, is also recovering from the armed robbery that has her shaken up and badly wounded. She says she never thought something like this would happen to her.

The robbery and triple shooting took place around 8 p.m. Saturday near Roberto Clemente Park at the corner of Northwest 34th Street and 1st Avenue.

Dramatic cell phone video captured the moments when rescue crews arrived on scene near Midtown. Martinez says she was with her two cousins when the shots were fired, 12-year-old Delber DĆaz and 17-year-old Juan Escobar.

Martinez, who spoke with NBC 6 in Spanish, said a woman approached her from behind, grabbed her purse and told her to hand over the phone.

Miami Police say the woman they're looking for jumped out of a mid-sized four-door sedan, possibly a silver of white Chrysler, catching the victims off-guard, taking their items at gun point.

When the woman began shooting Martinez said they started running. But it wasn't enough. The 12-year-old was shot in the stomach. The other victim was also shot, all three rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
