3-Year-Old Dies in Miami Car Accident

A three-year-old is dead after a two-car accident in Miami Tuesday afternoon.

According to Miami Police, Kierra Lee, 19, and Kayden Hart, 3, were in a black SUV traveling westbound on 53rd Street when they collided with a silver Cadillac Seville that was going southbound on NW 18th Avenue. Police said the SUV ran the stop sign and the force of the accident caused the Seville to come to a stop at a house on the corner of the two streets.

Hart was thrown from the SUV in the accident. Emergency workers rushed the child to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but the toddler died from the injuries. Police said the driver of the Seville, Jeffrey Brinson, 43, was taken to JMH as well and is in critical condition.

In a tragic coincidence, the father of Hart works at Jackson Memorial Hospital, which is how he found out about the deadly accident.

Joe Desent said he was cooking in his house when he heard the crash.

"Bang, boom, then I heard the crash, then I heard another boom when it hit the house, you know and I looked out the window and I saw the car at the house, the guy was flailing around in his seat there," Desent said.

Lee stayed on the scene and has been cooperating with police. Miami Police said charges are pending in the crash.
