New Memorial Fence to Be Installed at Pulse Nightclub

A new fence honoring the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre will be built at the site of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

WESH reports the fence will feature artwork from Orlando residents paying tribute to the 49 killed and more than 50 injured in the June 12th attack.

It will also serve as a testament to the strength, unity and love demonstrated by the community in the face of tragedy, the city of Orlando said.

The fence will be significantly smaller in size compared with the current barrier at the site. It will allow visitors, employees and patrons of the surrounding businesses to safely navigate around the area.

The city said the fence will be installed Monday.

In addition, the Orange County Regional History Center will begin collecting the majority of the tribute items that have been placed outside the nightclub starting Friday. Non-perishable items are being catalogued and photographed, flowers will be organically turned into soil for use in gardens throughout the city and candles will be collected and stored.
