4 More to Surrender in Rothstein Scheme

Alleged co-conspirators in Ponzi scheme expected to surrender: Report

Four more people tangled up in former Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Rothstein's $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme are expected to be charged this week.

The four unidentified people will likely surrender this week on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, federal sources told the Miami Herald.

Rothstein pleaded guilty in January 2010 to five charges stemming from the $1.2 billion scam that revolved around investments in phony legal settlements though his Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm.

The money was used to fund his lavish lifestyle, which included several businesses, large homes and luxury sports cars. Rothstein later lost his law license and agreed to forfeit all of his assets.

The 48 year old is currently serving a 50-year prison sentence at an undisclosed location.

Rothstein's loyal right-hand woman at RRA, Debra Villegas, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in October, 2010, for her part in the scheme.
