4 Stranded in Everglades When Airboat Overturns

Four people are safe after their airboat overturned southwest of Everglades Holiday Park in the Miami Canal.

Broward Sheriff's officials say two men and two women managed to swim to shore and call for help Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say the boat rounded a turn and hit a submerged rock. The 14-foot airboat tilted up and flipped over, sending the passengers into the water.

Broward Sheriff's Office Air Rescue spotted them and guided rescue crews to the site.

Firefighters brought the victims to Holiday Park. No injuries were reported.

The overturned airboat was marked as a navigational hazard. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission also assisted in the rescue.
