4 Injured in Margate Shooting: Police

Police are looking for the suspects.

Four people were shot Friday night in a gated Margate community on the 7400 block of Santa Monica Drive, according to police.

Three men and one woman were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, Margate Police said. Two of the victims are in critical but stable condition and the other two are in stable condition, police said.

Neighbors had trouble getting into the community following the shooting due to the police activity.

"It's alarming," resident Venus Simcos said. "Nothing like this has ever happened as long as I've lived here."

Many were shocked to hear the shooting happened in what they said was a quiet neighborhood.

"Its an amazing neighborhood, very friendly," resident Patricia Santiago said. "There's actually a lot of officers that live in the community from different cities, so it's really shocking."

Officials are asking for anyone with information to call the Margate Police Department at (954) 972-7111 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
