Driver Surrenders in Hit and Run That Injured Miramar Boy

The driver of a minivan that struck a 7-year-old boy who was riding his bike turned himself in to Miramar Police Wednesday.

Last week, little Jayden McFarlane was badly injured when the minivan hit him outside a home. The driver, Milton Walker, kept on driving. His minivan was located the next day.

Police said Walker was remorseful about the crash.

The 7-year-old was hospitalized for four days. His mother said little Jayden suffered a fractured collarbone, bruised heart, minor bleeding in the brain and a concussion.

Walker is charged with failure to stop and remain at an accident involving serious injury.

Walker appeared in court Thursday morning where he was ordered held on $5,000 bond. He was also ordered to surrender his passport and won't be allowed to drive for recreation.

"We've been in communication with law enforcement since the beginning of the incident," defense attorney Terry Moons said.

Moons admitted that Walker was driving on his way to work when he struck the child.

"I don't think he knew what he hit at the time," Moons said. "As soon as he found out he was crying, he was very very remorseful, very sorry, it's a tragic situation."
