5 Juveniles in Custody After Pembroke Pines Armed Carjacking, Pursuit

Five suspects were in custody after an armed carjacking in Pembroke Pines and a brief pursuit that ended in Miramar Thursday, officials said.

Police say a 49-year-old woman was the victim of the carjacking in the Arium Community in Pembroke Pines on Monday. Three suspects stole her 2016 gray Honda Civic at gunpoint, police said.

On Thursday, a detective found the car in the area of Palm Avenue and Pines Boulevard, where five suspects fled in the car, police said. The car finally stopped in the 2000 block of Southwest 99th Terrace in Miramar where all five suspects fled on foot.

The suspects, who are juveniles, were all caught a short time later. Nearby Sea Castle Elementary was briefly placed on lockdown during the incident.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
