No. 2 - After a student suffered a spinal injury at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, her parents accused district officials of a lack of supervision that they said may have made the injury worse.
The parents of Isabella Carrerou said the 14-year-old freshman was at band practice on Saturday when some loose band equipment collapsed and fell onto her. The teen is recovering and has full motor function after undergoing a six-hour surgery Tuesday to repair some broken vertebrae.
No. 3 - A police officer in Miami Beach has been relieved of duty after a risqué video showed him with three models wearing lingerie walking outside of the department's headquarters.
The staged video, making rounds on social media, showed 11-year veteran Officer William Beeker walking behind the models up the steps of the building on Washington Avenue, with all three in handcuffs at the time. In a statement, Miami Beach Police said that Beeker was relieved of duty and put on paid administrative leave Tuesday as they continued to investigate.

No. 4 - It turns out a top Florida Department of Transportation bridge engineer missed two voicemails – not just one – about cracks in the FIU pedestrian bridge, the latest left just hours before it collapsed, killing six.
The engineer says he did not listen to either voicemail until the day after the bridge collapsed on March 15, 2018. An FDOT consultant who attended a meeting on the cracks the morning of the disaster tried contacting FDOT engineer Tim Andres, according to testimony Andres gave to the National Transportation Safety Board released Tuesday by the NTSB.
No. 5 - In vowing to halt all cooperation with House Democrats' impeachment inquiry, the White House on Tuesday labeled the investigation "illegitimate" based on its own reading of the Constitution's vague language.
In an eight-page letter, White House counsel Pat Cipollone pointed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's failure to call for an official vote to proceed with the inquiry as grounds to claim the process a farce.
No. 6 - More than 2,000 people recently attended a funeral for a veteran because they didn't want him to be buried alone, but a Florida newspaper reports that the man did in fact have immediate kin.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune wrote Saturday that Edward Pearson had two sons. One told the paper their father walked out on them when they were teens. The family did not know of Pearson's passing until the day before the Oct. 1 service , and by that time, the funeral home had invited the public to attend, saying he had no immediate family.
