BAIL HEARING CONTINUES FOR ACCUSED FLORIDA OFFICER

The second day of a bond hearing will be held for a retired Tampa police captain accused of shooting another man in a movie theater after an argument over texting. Curtis Reeves is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 43-year-old Chad Oulson. Reeves has pleaded not guilty. The second day of a hearing to determine whether a Pasco County judge will grant Reeves bail will be held Friday morning.

WITNESSES DESCRIBE SHOOTING OF FLORIDA TEEN

Witnesses recounted how a Florida man fired at an SUV outside a Jacksonville convenience store, killing a teen, following an argument over loud music. More witnesses and police officers will take the stand Friday in 47-year-old Michael Dunn's first-degree murder trial for fatally shooting 17-year-old Jordan Davis in 2012.

OCT. 14 TRIAL DATE IN FORMER UBS BANKER TAX CASE

An Oct. 14 trial date has been set in Florida for a former senior executive at Swiss bank UBS AG charged with tax fraud conspiracy. A Fort Lauderdale federal judge on Thursday agreed to a defense motion to delay the trial of Raoul Weil, former chief of Global Wealth Management at UBS. Weil has pleaded not guilty and is free on $10.5 million bail. Trial had been set for this month.

NEW JEWISH CENTER OPENS AT UF

A new Jewish center is opening up this weekend at the University of Florida, the university with the nation's largest Jewish population. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned Sunday for the new 23,000-square-foot Lubavitch-Chabad Center for Jewish Life and Learning in Gainesville. The center cost $4.8 million to build.

GIRL FOUND DEAD IN SEPTIC TANK

A little girl was found dead inside a septic tank behind a central Florida home. Fruitland police say 2-year-old Marissa Daniels had been playing with other children Wednesday morning before she went missing. Police responded to the home, and a department K-9 quickly led officers to a small hole that turned out to be a broken septic tank lid. Public works employees called to the home were able to recover Marissa's body from the tank.

UCF FIGHTER THIAGO SILVA ARRESTED

UFC fighter Thiago Silva was taken into custody at his Oakland Park home late Thursday night after authorities responded to a suspect barricaded inside a home, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said. Silva , 31, was booked into the Broward Jail on charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest without violence, records showed.
