LARGEST US HOSPICE COMPANY SUED FOR MEDICARE FRAUD
 
The Department of Justice is suing the hospice company founded by Florida's Senate president, accusing it of submitting tens of millions of dollars in fraudulent Medicare claims for more than a decade, including while Don Gaetz was vice chairman of the board.

Florida Supreme Court justices are weighing whether to end a lengthy legal battle over new political districts for the state Senate adopted last year. Lawyers for the Republican-led Legislature are asking the high court to throw out a lawsuit that says legislators violated strict new standards.
 
SEA TURTLE SICKNESS MAY BE CAUSED BY COLD WEATHER
 
Wildlife officials say an extended period of cold weather may have caused a high number of sea turtles to wash ashore. A marine science facility in Volusia County has already treated 69 sea turtles this year. They only treated 39 turtles in 2012.

SOUTH FLORIDA FIREFIGHTER GOES HOME

Jahwann McIntyre was with the Martin County Fire Department for only a year when he was injured and burned over 50 percent of his body while his team battled an early morning house fire, just two days after Christmas 2012. Five months later, having endured eight surgeries and countless hours of rehabilitation, the young firefighter, who celebrated his 23rd birthday in the Ryder Trauma Center burn unit, finally gets to go home.
