No. 2 - The Florida Senate handed a political victory to Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, as the chamber backed the suspension of a South Florida sheriff who the Republican governor said bungled the response to last year's mass shooting in Parkland that killed 17 people.
The 25-15 vote for removal was no surprise in the Republican-dominated Senate, considering that the Rules Committee just two days earlier had sided with the governor's decision to oust Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
No. 3 - The widow of a man who was killed when flames engulfed the Tesla he was driving in Davie has filed a lawsuit against the company.
The lawsuit alleges that Tesla batteries are prone to unique types of fire risks, and that the Tesla Model S’s “inaccessible door handles” prevented Omar Awan from exiting the vehicle when it erupted into flames.

No. 4 - It looks like the guitar Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page played. But this one is 450 feet tall and is a light-beam hotel that the Seminole Tribe wants to become South Florida's latest tourist destination.
The Guitar Hotel's grand opening is Thursday on the tribe's land in Hollywood. It's the latest step in the Seminole Hard Rock empire, which includes naming rights on the Miami-area stadium where the 2020 Super Bowl will be played.
No. 5 - Dangerously windy weather sweeping through the state brought power outages to Northern California as the state's largest utility staged blackouts designed to prevent catastrophic wildfires.
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. on Wednesday began rolling blackouts stretching from the Sierra foothills in the northeast to portions of the San Francisco Bay Area. A couple of counties kept their power until after midnight.
No. 6 - Justise Winslow scored 27 points, rookie Kendrick Nunn scored 24 in his NBA debut, and the Miami Heat ran away in the fourth quarter to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 120-101 Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams.
Goran Dragic scored 19 points for Miami, which played without Jimmy Butler — who missed what would have been his Heat debut for personal reasons. Nunn and fellow rookie Tyler Herro started in the backcourt instead.
