Weather wise, the humidity and temperatures rise ahead of a front bringing showers on Friday – but the weekend looks clear and mild across South Florida.

No. 1 - A former Miami Police officer arrested along with two other cops in a federal drug trafficking conspiracy case will spend the next 15 and a half years behind bars.

Schonton Harris was given the sentence by U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga, prosecutors announced Wednesday. Harris had pled guilty to conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it in January.

No. 2 - After nearly two years of waiting, America will get some answers straight from Robert Mueller— but not before President Donald Trump's attorney general has his say.

The Justice Department on Thursday is expected to release a redacted version of the special counsel's report on Russian election interference and Trump's campaign, opening up months, if not years, of fights over what the document means in a deeply divided country.

No. 3 - The Trump administration is stepping up its crackdown again on Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

White House national security adviser John Bolton says there's a new cap on the amount of money that families in the United States can send to relatives in Cuba.

Bolton announced the policy in Miami Wednesday, during a speech at the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association on the 58th anniversary of the United States' failed 1961 invasion of Cuba, an attempt to overthrow the Havana government.

No. 4 - Attorneys for the suspect in last year's Parkland school massacre will ask a judge to let them question his former mental health counselors without prosecutors present.

Attorneys for Nikolas Cruz are scheduled Thursday to ask Judge Elizabeth Scherer for permission to question the counselors without notifying prosecutors or allowing their attendance. The counselors treated Cruz before the Feb. 14, 2018, massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 dead.

No. 5 - Legislation that would require consent from a parent or guardian before a girl under 18 could obtain an abortion passed the Florida House on Wednesday night after a lengthy debate and amid questions about its constitutionality.

The Republican-led House voted 69-44 largely along party lines for the bill, which now moves to the Senate where a similar bill is pending.

No. 6 - As the NFL officially announced the 2019 regular season schedule for their 32 teams Wednesday night, fans of the Miami Dolphins will get to see plenty of their team early in the season - and very rarely at the end of it.

The Dolphins will host the Baltimore Ravens – led by quarterback and Boynton Beach native Lamar Jackson – in Week 1 followed by the New England Patriots in Week 2 inside Hard Rock Stadium. Miami will travel to face the Patriots in the final week of the season.
