60-Foot Yacht Stolen from Marina in Dania Beach: BSO

Police are investigating the theft of a 60-foot yacht in Dania Beach.

The vessel, named Change of Latitude, was last seen docked at Harbour Towne Marina on Sunday. It quietly glided away in the middle of the night.

It was repossessed from Canadian owners in March and stored with a company called Lab Marine at the marina.

Broward County Sheriff's investigators said its fuel line was removed so it couldn't be stolen.

But in the cover of darkness, three men proved that wasn't enough protection. One was seen on video walking around the stern, untying lines on the dock.

"The three males we're looking for have knowledge repairing boats since the boat had been disabled after being repossessed. They spent five hours trying to repair the boat to be able to drive it away," said Keyla Concepcion with BSO.

The sheriff's deputies report said after being repossessed, friends of the previous owners harassed Lab Marine and threatened to get the boat back by any means.

It went on to say one witness suspects a man named "Jake" who works at the marina was possibly involved in stealing the yacht. But no arrests have been made.

The yacht was registered in the Philippines. Deputies said the previous owners from Canada still owed about $700,000 on it.

If you know anything about the theft, you're asked to call police.
