A 7-year-old boy crossing a North Miami street with his grandparents Friday was hit by a car, police say.
According to North Miami Police, the child and his grandparents were crossing Northwest 119th Street at Northwest 13 Avenue around 1:55 p.m. on Friday.
The boy, who was holding his grandfather’s hand, suddenly let go and darted into the street. A vehicle that was traveling westbound on 119 Street struck the boy.
Authorities say the boy suffered serious injuries and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The driver remained on scene. Police did not say if there was another person transported to the hospital.
No charges are expected to be filed at this point in the investigation, police say.
