Florida's Department of Health will allocate another $7.4 million for mosquito control efforts to stop Zika's spread in Miami-Dade County.
According to a statement Tuesday from Gov. Rick Scott's office, the money will spent on hiring more staff for the county's mosquito control operations. It also will pay for more pesticide spraying.
In the statement, Scott said over 130 Zika cases linked to Florida mosquitoes have occurred in Miami-Dade County. That's the vast majority of the 147 locally acquired Zika infections reported Tuesday by the state health department in a separate statement.
Health officials say Miami Beach remains the only area with active Zika transmission, though infections in other parts of the county are being investigated.
Miami-Dade County also has reported more Zika infections linked to travel outside the U.S. than any other Florida county.
