9 South Florida Locations Participating in Clear The Shelters

Nine South Florida locations will be participating in NBC 6 and Telemundo 51's fourth annual Clear the Shelters animal adoption drive on Aug. 18.

There will be three locations open in Broward and two open in Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties. Below is everything you need to know about each shelter.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES

3599 Northwest 79 Avenue, Doral, FL 33122

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Miami-Dade Animal Services will waive adoption fees as well as license tag fees, if applicable. Adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, microchip and age appropriate vaccines.

HUMANE SOCIETY OF GREATER MIAMI

16101 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL 33160

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for the day but a $39.99 fee for the county tag and microchip for dogs and a $9 fee for microchip for cats will be due at adoption. At the time of adoption you will be asked to provide a picture ID; if you are a renter, a copy of your lease/rent agreement and pet policy, including the name and address of the landlord, or written consent from your landlord if the pet policy is not included in the lease; a collar and leash to take home your pet(if you are adopting a dog). Collars and leashes are available for purchase at their boutique or you may bring your own collar and leash with you.

BROWARD COUNTY ANIMAL CARE

2400 Southwest 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All adoption fees for dogs and cats will be waived. Each adoption includes spaying/neutering; all necessary vaccinations; a Broward County Rabies Registration License tag, and a microchip. Adopters will also receive a special "swag bag."

ABANDONED PET RESCUE

1137 Northeast 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304

Open 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Abandoned Pet Rescue is waiving adoption fees, but APR never allows an animal to immediately go home. "Every day we work to guarantee a forever home so you must fill out an application and once you find the dog or cat you think is right for you our team will evaluate your application and let you know if you qualify for the adoption," the shelter says. Every pet will be fully vetted and micro chipped.

SAVING SAGE ANIMAL RESCUE

2875 W. Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

Open 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Adoption fees will be reduced by up to 50 percent. Home checks (and veterinary checks for those with other pets at home) will be required in order to take a pet home.

FLORIDA KEYS SPCA

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at both locations

Adoption fees will be completely waived throughout the day, but current adoption procedures and policies will still apply. There will also be games, kids activities, a face painter, door prizes, food, a Kiss-A-Bull booth and fun for the whole family.

PEGGY ADAMS ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE

3100/3200 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33409

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Peggy Adams will offer fee waived pet adoption all day. All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. All Peggy Adams' adopters receive a free bag of Science Diet food, 30 days of free pet insurance, registered HomeAgain Microchip, and $25 off initial flea & tick services from Nozzle Nolen Pet-Friendly Pest Control. Dogs also receive a complimentary Essential Care Package from Scenthound and free basic training classes.

PALM BEACH COUNTY ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL

7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33411

Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adoption fees are completely waived and include spay or neutering, tag, microchip and one free follow up visit with any of their partner vet clinics. They are also offering facility tours throughout the day and guests can participate in the play group program where they can watch and interact with adoptable pets.
