$80 Million Coke Haul Lands in Miami

Coast Guard bringing massive stash of seized cocaine to Magic City

Some $80 million worth of cocaine arrived in Miami Monday afternoon, and the authorities knew all about it.

In fact, they're the ones that brought it in.

The mega coke haul, 88 bales in all, arrived at the Coast Guard Base Support Unit today around 4 p.m. after it was seized from a 30-foot boat in the Caribbean on August 3.

The coke was seized during a routine patrol by the Coast Guard Cutter Forward about 27 miles off Honduras. Five suspects were arrested and the boat sunk at an undisclosed location.

The cocaine was brought to Miami by the Cutter Tahoma, and will likely be used for prosecution and then destroyed.
