80 Dogs Rescued from Harsh Conditions in Miami

The dogs were found housed in filthy crates aboard a large truck, animal services said.

More than 80 dogs that were found living in squalid conditions in a home in southwest Miami-Dade County were rescued by animal services Tuesday morning.

An anonymous report of animal cruelty prompted authorities of the dogs, which were found housed in filthy crates aboard a large truck, animal services said.

The dogs are now under veterinary care.

“The Department is grateful to the individual that provided the tip leading to the rescue of these dogs. Had the conditions gone unreported, the dogs would have continued to suffer under horrible conditions,” said Alex Muñoz, director of the Miami-Dade Animal Services Department. “We will do everything we can to ensure that each and every one of these dogs is adopted into a loving home.”

Adoption fees have been waived for the entire month of September and anyone interested in adopting a pet is encouraged to visit the shelter.
